SIGNL4 supports multiple authentication providers including Microsoft Azure Active Directory, Google, Sign in with Apple and the custom SIGNL4 provider.
Here is how to migrate from the custom login to a 3rd party authentication provider:
1. Identical email alias
When the logon email alias of your user is identical between custom login and the 3rd party provider, simply ask your user to use the 3rd party login button at the next time he/she logs on.
SIGNL4 will check the email alias and if there is a match, it will automatically change the auth provider to the one used during the login process. No further steps are required.
2. Different email alias
If your user is using a different email alias for custom login and for the desired 3rd party auth provider, follow these steps:
- Delete the user from your team
- Re-invite the user
- Once the user receives the invitation email and confirms, he/she needs to choose the proper logon method on the sign-in webpage. For instance, to switch to Microsoft Azure AD authentication, the user needs to click the Microsoft logo which transfers to a Microsoft Azure AD logon page.
To transfer your own account to a different authentication method, follow these steps:
- If you are the only admin, assign admin rights to another user and sign off
- Don't delete yourself, have another admin delete your account
- Have this admin re-invite you to your team
- Follow steps 3 from the first list above
