This guide explains the process of transferring administrator access in SIGNL4 when the current administrator is unavailable for an extended period. This situation typically arises if the sole SIGNL4 administrator in an organization becomes unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, such as illness. This guide will assist you in setting up a temporary email forwarding rule in Office 365 to recover administrator access to your SIGNL4 account.
By following these steps, a designated user can retrieve the necessary credentials to log into the SIGNL4 account and promote themselves as the new administrator.
Steps for Recovering Administrator Access
1. Request Email Forwarding Access from Your Email Administrator
To proceed with this method, please coordinate with your Office 365 email administrator to set up a forwarding rule that will redirect specific emails from SIGNL4 to the designated new administrator. The forwarding rule will temporarily redirect emails from SIGNL4, including password recovery emails, to the new administrator's mailbox.
2. Set Up a Mail Forwarding Rule in Office 365
Below are the steps to configure the forwarding rule in Microsoft Office 365.
**Instructions for the Office 365 Administrator**
1. **Login to Office 365 Admin Center**
- Go to [https://admin.microsoft.com](https://admin.microsoft.com) and log in with your admin credentials.
2. **Go to Exchange Admin Center**
- In the left menu, navigate to **Exchange**.
3. **Create a Mail Flow Rule**
- In the Exchange Admin Center, select **Mail flow** from the left-hand navigation.
- Click on **Rules** and then select **+ Add a rule**.
4. **Configure the Rule to Forward SIGNL4 Emails**
- Enter a name for the rule (e.g., "Forward SIGNL4 Emails").
- Under **Apply this rule if**, select **The sender** > **domain is** and type `mail.signl4.com`.
- Under **Do the following**, select **Redirect the message to** > **Add recipients**.
- Choose the email address of the designated new administrator who will temporarily receive SIGNL4 emails.
- Click **Save** to activate the rule.
5. **Review and Save the Rule**
- Confirm that the rule is active and accurately configured.
#### Note
The rule can be disabled or removed once the account access has been successfully recovered.
3. Initiate Password Recovery on SIGNL4
1. The new designated administrator should go to the SIGNL4 login page.
2. In the login form, enter the email address of the unavailable administrator.
3. Click on **Forgot Password**.
A password recovery email will be sent to the original administrator’s email address but will be forwarded to the designated user’s mailbox per the rule set above.
4. Retrieve the Temporary Password
The designated user should check their mailbox for the forwarded email from SIGNL4. This email will contain a temporary password to log into the SIGNL4 account.
5. Log in to SIGNL4 and Promote the New Administrator
1. Using the temporary password from the recovery email, log in to the SIGNL4 account.
2. Once logged in, go to the **User Management** settings in SIGNL4.
3. Find your user profile and assign yourself as the new administrator.
6. Remove or Disable the Forwarding Rule
Once the administrator access has been successfully transferred, the Office 365 administrator can remove or disable the forwarding rule created in Step 2.
## Important Notes
- Ensure proper authorization before forwarding any emails to comply with privacy and security policies.
- This procedure requires collaboration between your organization’s SIGNL4 users and the Office 365 administrator.
By following these steps, your organization will regain administrator access to your SIGNL4 account effectively.
