SIGNL4 processes various categories of data, which are mainly required for user management, alerting, and operation of the service. The data can be roughly divided into account data, technical data, communication/alert data, and optional data.
- User and Account Data
These data are created during registration or when using an account:
- Email address (e.g., for login or invitations)
- Username
- Name and contact details of the contact person
- Mobile phone number (if provided)
- Company name and company address (e.g., for paid plans)
- Payment information for paid subscriptions
When using Single Sign-On (e.g., Google, Microsoft, or Apple), the email address from the respective account may also be processed.
2. Device and Technical Data
These data are processed so that the app can function correctly:
- Device ID / Android ID or Device Identifier
- Device type (Android/iOS)
- System language
- Time zone
- Push address for notifications
- System or app usage information
3. Alert and Incident Data
Since SIGNL4 is an alerting and incident-response platform, event and alarm data are also processed:
- Content or source of an alarm trigger
- Time when the alarm occurred
- Time when an alarm was acknowledged or closed
- Status information (e.g., on-call or duty status)
- Alarm-related messages or notes between team members
Some of these data may be visible to other members of a team, as this is necessary for collaboration during incidents.
4. Optional Data (Only if Provided)
Some data are only processed if users voluntarily provide them or grant permission:
- Location data (GPS), e.g., to display the current location during incidents
- Profile pictures or images from the camera/gallery
- Email addresses from the address book used to invite team members
5. Operational and Security Data
Additional technical data are processed to operate the service:
- Log and connection data
- Backup and operational data
- Data used for authentication and security of the platform
Data are typically stored in encrypted form in Microsoft Azure and transmitted securely via encrypted connections.
