This process allows you to switch an existing call-routing number to a new phone number without losing any calls. Both phone numbers remain active during a transition period. Once the transition period ends, the old phone number is automatically removed.
Requirements:
- You have administrator privileges in SIGNL4.
Step 1: Open the existing call routing configuration
1. Log in to SIGNL4.
2. Go to **Call Routing**.
3. Select the call routing number you want to change.
Step 2: Change Phone Number
1. Open the “Details” for the existing call routing number.
2. Click the “Edit” button.
3. In the dialog box, select the country for the new phone number.
- “Note for Germany:” The new phone number will be a landline number with the area code **0331**.
4. Confirm the change.
- “Notes”: The previous phone number will **not be deactivated immediately**; instead, both numbers can be used simultaneously during the transition period. **The configuration** of the old number (greeting messages, security settings, etc.) will be automatically transferred to the new number.
Step 3: Take Advantage of the Transition Period
The transition period is "15 days". The following applies:
- The **old phone number** remains active.
- The **new phone number** is active immediately.
- Both phone numbers forward incoming calls to the same call routing configuration.
This allows you to gradually notify all callers of the new phone number without disrupting day-to-day operations.
During the transition period, provide information to and update:
- internal users
- external callers
- documentation
“Note”: You can cancel the migration by manually deleting the new number.
Step 4: Automatic Cleanup
After the transition period ends:
- the "old phone number" will be automatically removed,
- only the "new phone number" will remain active,
- no further manual steps are required.
Result:
Once the transition is complete:
- ✅ The new phone number is permanently active.
- ✅ No calls will be lost during the migration.
